Friends of the Library 2009 Calendars for Sale

Friends of the Malvern Public Library have new 2009 calendars for sale as a fundraiser that will assist with the costs of purchasing more years of the "Digital Malvern Leader".

The calendars have been very popular and are flying off the shelves, so be sure to get your copy now. The beautiful photos in the calendar are images of local scenes that are familiar to anyone who has either visited or lived here. These calendars make great gifts for relatives or friends both near and far. Stop by the library and get yours now.

What is a "DIGITAL MALVERN LEADER"???

Previously, research in the archives of the Malvern Leader newspaper was done with old, fragile, dusty bound volumes….OR….your could spend hours peering thru microfilm images on the quirky old microfilm reader. But unless you knew exactly what published date you were looking for, it was a long process.

But NOW, the Malvern Library presents the DIGITAL MALVERN LEADER. The Friends of the Library recently received a grant from the Mills County Endowment Fund that allowed several decades the old microfilm to be digitized and placed online on a website. The website, available at the library only, is capable of searching by dates and/or keywords.

In MINUTES rather than hours, you should be able to find the article or name you are searching for to complete your research and print what you need.

Thanks to the grant from the Mills County Endowment Fund and the Friends of the Malvern Public Library, the years 1879 thru 1960 are now available online.

You may donate to the ongoing effort to purchase the remaining years of the Malvern Leader. Your tax deductible donation can be made to the Friends of the Malvern Library to help complete this valuable project.

Check back here regularly to find out about more upcoming events.
